Further, in consultation with the Arlington County Manager’s Office (CMO), Arlington Public Schools (APS), and the Arlington Commission for the Arts (ACA), we have determined County-run arts facilities (3700 Four Mile Run, Lee Arts Center and shared facilities with APS) will will remain closed. This includes theatres, rehearsal spaces, art galleries, art studios, scenery shop, costume shop, offices and storage spaces. The feasibility of reopening these facilities in Spring of 2021 is being evaluated on an ongoing basis, given the changing circumstances of the pandemic. We will keep you apprised of any change in status.
The Arlington Cultural Affairs Division is committed to persevering during this challenging time by focusing on innovation and alternative means of distributing content. We are glad that some of you applied for and received the Small Business GRANT through our parent Department, Arlington Economic Development (AED). We are in constant touch with national and regional arts leadership to keep abreast of trends and funding, and we will continue to connect you with relevant resources.
In the meantime, AED’s Biz Launch team would be happy to work with any artists on strategies to continue operating their business during this difficult time. We also would encourage any small business to consider the recently announced “Rebuild VA” Grant program. For more details, click here .
The Arlington Commission for the Arts administers the grants program for Arlington County artists and arts and cultural organizations. The Arlington County Policy for the Support of Arts Organizations and Artists (as approved by the Arlington County Board on December 8, 1990) describes eligibility for the program, application procedures and criteria for evaluation.

- To foster the development of excellence and diversity in the arts, ensuring that a varied program of cultural activities is available to satisfy the interests of Arlington’s citizens.
- To guarantee to all Arlington artists and arts organizations an open and fair policy which assures equal access to County arts resources.
